"...strengthen relations between Singapore and India, and to raise the positive profile of each country in the other."

SIPF's Objectives:

The objectives of the Foundation would be to strengthen relations between Singapore and India, and to raise the positive profile of each country in the other. The Foundation would aim to strengthen relations in a broad sense, including economic linkages, government relations, academic interaction, and cultural understanding. The Foundation would be the premier body established for this purpose.

The Foundation would advance its objectives primarily by granting Exchange Fellowships, Visiting Fellowships, or Post-graduate Scholarships to outstanding Singapore and Indian nationals from all disciplines, including the private sector, government, academia and media.

The Fellowships would be awarded to outstanding individuals with the potential to contribute to enhance relations between Singapore and India. The Fellowships should be awarded to a limited number of recipients each year. For a start, the Fellowships may be awarded to two persons from each country.

  1. Exchange Fellowships are short-term visits targeted at opinion makers and leaders in their fields. These will be customised programmes of one to two week duration, depending on the interests of the Exchange Fellow. Exchange Fellowships will be awarded by invitation only.
  1. Visiting Fellowships may be tenable in leading research institutions or think tanks in Singapore and India. It could be a program for a specific period to an accredited institution or may be tailor-made to take into account of the specific interest of the awardees.
  1. Post-graduate Scholarships may be tenable in leading universities in Singapore or India, and awarded to individuals with the potential to make significant contribution to the development and growth of Singapore-India relations.
